Brian Butterfield

Bermuda Day Grand Marshal 2012 – Celebrating Hospitality Through The Ages

Dancing has been a lifelong passion for Bryan Butterfield. He was born and raised in Somerset, he was the leader of the Bermuda Authentic Limbo Dancers, and danced in all of the major hotels and guest houses in Bermuda for well over 50 years.

Many people remember Bryan Butterfield performing in the annual Floral Pageant when he was the drum major.  He and his first wife Erma were the leaders of North Village Majorettes. The North Village Majorettes and band was one of the most popular acts in the old Easter Parades and were enjoyed by thousands. He was also the drum major in many Bermuda Day parades.

Mr. Butterfield’s talent landed him in two documentaries and three films, The Lost Lagoon, Return to Bermuda and Passages to Bermuda with Jonathan Winters.  Bryan continued to entertain people with his fire blowing and dancing in broken glass.

Bryan has been recipient of: Founders Award with the Bermuda Arts Council, Adlev Annual, Ministry of Community Affairs and Sports, Ministry of Education Sports and Recreation, and the Bermuda Hall of Fame.
