Bermuda Day Grand Marshal 2021 – Bermudian Resilience
Jeremy Madeiros is the Principle Scientist (Terrestrial Conservation) for the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. He started his Government career as Department of Agriculture and Fisheries apprentice under David Wingate on the Cahow Program and Nonsuch Island. During the course of his career he has done everything from growing 10’s of thousands of Bermuda Cedars and other endemic plants, restored Fort Scaur and West Whale Bay Fort, all while continuing to assist with the Cahow work.
In 2000, Jeremy became the manager of the Cahow Recovery Project and has now increased the population from 56 pairs to 142 pairs. He continues managing more than 200 acres of Nature Reserves on Bermuda, as well as Bermuda’s populations of Longtails and our unique National Bird, the Cahow. We salute his steadfast resilience to Bermuda’s natural heritage.
